Tunisia… and the question is, have they failed?
The painful blow that the Tunisia’s Muslim Brotherhood suffered, led by Ghannouchi has not been completely exposed to this day, whether the impacts were on the Muslim Brotherhood of Tunisia, or on Arab Maghreb’s Brotherhood, Algeria, the Kingdom of Morocco, and Libya.
Moreover, the resounding fall of the Tunisian movement Ennahdha and Ghannouchi will not be limited to the Arab Maghreb, because we recognize the “international” Brotherhood alignment with its colleagues in Tunisia, and we have seen the anger and promise of the American MP of Somali origin, Ilhan Omar, in which support these political movement in our country.
In this regard, neither Ilhan nor the rest of the Muslim Brotherhood, Arab and foreign are important, as long as the reform launched by the brave Tunisian president, Kais Saied, is protected by constitutional legitimacy and the popular umbrella. De facto, there is a recent Tunisian poll that is may help to grasp more.
87% of Tunisians supported the exceptional decisions announced by the president Kais Saied, which raised the level of optimism and hope of Tunisians concerning the future, while only 3% of Tunisians objected, in a move that reflects the level of popular support and satisfaction over Saied’s decisions.
This came in the results of a poll conducted by the Emrhod Consulting Foundation, which specializes in sounding public opinion, between the 26th and the 28th of this July, covering all the states of Tunisia.
Away from Tunisia, we are witnessing various scenes about: Have Islamist extremist groups reorganized themselves, and have the confrontation with them ended as some have been promoting?
Look at two news from two different Muslim countries, the first is a statement issued by the Saudi Interior Ministry announcing the execution of a Saudi terrorist who killed innocent people and robbed and terrified people. The statement explained that the perpetrator was a Saudi national who “embraced the takfiri ideology, as he disbelieve the authorities and security men in this country, as well as belonging to the ISIS terrorist organization, supporting it in its terrorist acts, adopting the organization’s ideas and pursuing its goals”. He was also convicted of terrorist activity on Twitter.
The confrontation, therefore, continues on all arenas, legal, security and justice, as well as on political and cultural arenas… The banner is famous for this Great War.
But look at the second news coming out of Afghanistan, where the Office of the Special Inspector General for the Reconstruction of Afghanistan revealed that the number of “enemy attacks” mainly attributed to the Taliban, since the signing of the US withdrawal agreement, has risen from 9651 at the end of 2019 to 13,242 at the end of 2020, according to NATO data in Afghanistan. Inspector General John Sopko noted that “it is clear that the overall trend is not in the interest of the Afghan Government, which may face an existential crisis if it does not succeed in reversing it”.
What a loss for the people of Afghanistan!
But the big perception remains, that the leading countries like Saudi Arabia and Egypt… will not allow these groups to expand, and there is no future for such groups.
